It is such a privilege to teach Pre-K and Kindergarten! At this age, children are innately curious, inquisitive, and active! They are rapidly developing foundations upon which their faith, values, and academics will grow, and it is my objective to provide a rich, Christ-centered environment in which they can thrive.
This year, I will teach from the Pebbles (Pre-K) and Kindergarten Stepping Stones curriculum which were developed by the North American Division Office of Education based on current research and best practices in teaching. They are both literature based and support character development.
I believe each child is a precious, unique being made in the image of God. I strive to know my learners well and teach the whole child: spiritually, cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically. I use a variety of teaching methods to meet the needs of all students and help students develop flexible learning styles. I employ a lot of active learning, hands-on discovery, and guided play in and out of the classroom. Weather permitting, we spend a large portion of our day in forest school: the ideal setting for discovery learning in God's Creation.
